How old was Isaac, when Abraham, following God’s command, sought to sacrifice him?

Many biblical movies, song videos, illustrations and images portray Isaac as being a child of about 10 to 14 years. But is this biblically correct?

What is the truth?

Abram was a short time in his journey from Ur of the Chaldees until when he left Haran at age 75, when he first received the promise that God would make of him a great nation. “So Abram departed, as the LORD had spoken unto him: …and Abram was seventy and five years old when he departed out of Haran.” Genesis 12:4
The promise was repeated; “… Look now toward heaven and tell the stars, if thou be able to number them: and he said unto him, So shall thy seed be.” Genesis 15:5 “… when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the Lord appeared to Abram” Genesis 17:1 and once again reaffirmed His promise that Sarah would bear him a son. (Gen 17:17)
It was a year later, “And Abraham was an hundred years old, when his son Isaac was born unto him.” Gen 21:5
The Spirit of prophecy reveals the age of Abraham when he received the command to sacrifice his son. “At the time of receiving this command, Abraham had reached the age of a hundred and twenty years.” PP 147

Conclusion? Isaac was not a child when he obediently lay on the altar in complete submission to his father’s will; nor a teenager, but had reached adulthood. He was mature enough to understand what was being required of him.

Isaac was 20 years old.
